Writer

Grace Bennett

Grace writes about the gentler side of faith: comfort in grief, gratitude on ordinary days, and hope that holds when circumstances do not. She likes short passages you can carry in your pocket and return to when you need them. Her goal is simple: to help a hard day feel a little less alone.

Grace came to writing the long way around. After losing her mother in her late twenties, she started journaling just to get through the mornings, and the short, honest paragraphs she wrote there slowly turned into the gentle pieces she publishes now. She studied communications and worked in it for a few years before leaving to write full time, once she realized the thing she cared about most was helping people feel less alone on a hard day. She believes gratitude is a practice you return to, and most of her writing is really about learning to pay attention.

Writes from a sunroom in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by half-finished cups of tea.

Favorite verse

Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5

A few things about Grace

  • Writes thank-you notes for no particular reason and actually mails them.
  • Has a favorite bench by the river where she reads on Sunday afternoons.
  • Tapes short verses to her bathroom mirror on index cards and swaps them out each month.
  • Bakes when she is anxious, so her neighbors eat well during her hard weeks.
  • Keeps a gratitude list in the back of her planner and refuses to skip a day.
  • Cries at almost every wedding, including the ones on television.
