Bible Verses About Strength for Hard Days

Bible verses about strength for the days that ask more of you than you feel you have to give.

July 14, 2026 · 1 min read

Some days simply ask more of you: a diagnosis, a long shift, a hard conversation still ahead. Scripture speaks to strength often, and rarely as a call to grit your teeth and push through alone. It is offered as something given, renewed, and shared.

Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Waiting is folded into the promise itself. Strength renews in the waiting.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Paul wrote this from a prison cell, describing contentment in plenty and in want alike. The strength in view is the kind that holds steady through whatever circumstances arrive.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Present and close. This verse places help right in the middle of trouble, exactly where it is needed.

2 Corinthians 12:9

My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

An unusual promise: that weakness is exactly where this strength shows up most clearly. You do not need to feel strong first.

Joshua 1:9

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

God speaks this to Joshua right before a genuinely difficult assignment. Courage here is paired with company. He is not sent to face it by himself.

Choose one for today

Say one verse out loud, especially on the day you need it most: a hard shift, a hard conversation, a diagnosis you did not expect. Devotional builds a passage like this into each morning, paired with a short reflection and one small action to carry into the day.
